L’elisir d’amore
by Gaetano Donizetti
Edinburgh Grand Opera celebrates its 60th Anniversary with a wonderful new production of L’elisir d’amore at the beautifully refurbished Church Hill Theatre in Edinburgh.
Populated by Land Girls and the Home Guard, this sparkling hay-filled production is set in 1940s Britain. An intoxicating tale of unrequited love, romantic rivalry and a little help from some “elixir”.
A wonderful cast includes Marie Claire Breen, a young Scottish Soprano and former Scottish Opera Emerging Artist, Luperci de Souza, Mikhail Pavlov, both prize winning RCS graduates and Edinburgh Grand Opera favourite Ivor Klayman.
Conducted by Music Director Susannah Wapshott (Scottish Opera), directed by award-winning Kally Lloyd-Jones (Scottish Opera/Company Chordelia) and designed by Janis Hart with Lighting Design by Laura Hawkins.
Sung in Italian with English supertitles
