PAST PRODUCTION 2016

La Bohème

by Giacomo Puccini

Sung in Italian with English supertitles

As the snow falls on a vibrant Christmas eve in the Latin Quarter of Paris, four struggling artists live the bohemian life to the full.  When Rodolfo meets Mimi,  they fall madly in love -  but she is devastatingly ill and their world falls apart.

The wonderfully evocative music of Puccini brings to life the tragic love story of Rodolfo and Mimi.

"Edinburgh’s Grand Opera evoked both the comedy and the heartbreak of Puccini’s classic ... orchestral excellence created an atmosphere of emotional cohesion which contributed to the overall affectivity of the production ...  The depth of Puccini’s masterpiece arguably owes its posterity to its exploration of human relationships, desire, and loss. It is in this way, that Edinburgh’s Grand Opera paid an excellent homage."
